REALLY COLD :!: FREEZING RAIN :!: SLIPPERY, ICY ROADS :!: POWER GOING IN AND OUT :!: PIPES FROZEN IN SOME RESIDENCES :!: MAIL DELIVERY CANCELLED, POST OFFICE CLOSED :!: LOTS OF OTHER PLACES CLOSED :!: DRIVING IS UNADVISABLE :!:

Just in case anyone was wondering.......
I'm going back to work now. :)  Lots of us came to work, who were able to. Panther Junction is still open. As far as snow in the Basin? Not sure what's going on there, as I figure they've been getting enough calls about stuff. If I hear anything else I'll let y'all know...

Whoa!  Thanks for the update!

It is cold down here in South Texas, but nothing like that.

Thanks,

I hope there are some real pretty pictures coming out of this weather event.

I'm betting there's not a lot of activity going on up at the Basin today.

Sorry guys, but this isn't a picturesque event. :(  The first snow pics I posted are much better from December. It hasn't done any big snowy flake stuff yet here at PJ, only icy roads, freezing rain and sleet. The flora isn't even iced up and pretty white. And there is no visibility of any of the surrounding mountains....been gray ALL day with off and on sleet. That's about it.
Don't know about the Chisos. Haven't been up there as the road is quite treacherous in this kind of weather. We're supposed to get more snow for the next few days, so we'll see.

Sorry I couldn't manage any snow pics. If you want to see the latest, go here : http://www.nps.gov/bibe/photosmultimedia/snowfall.htm
