I "hear" that Goldilocks is endorsing this - the fashion coordinated bear bell, soon to be available in blaze orange
:P

Moderator note: this thread makes even less sense now, after coghlans.com changed all their image numbers up...
Oooh, colored duct tape. My favorite!
Bear Bells sound fun. If you see a bear, chase him down and put this on him so you always know where he is!
There sure are a lot of whistles. Someone needs to teach these people how to whistle with out auxillary equipment! If you must get one, go ALL out and get the DELUXE!
What are we, Davy Crockett :?:

I don't care what the bears say, I am not wearing a bear bell of any color in Big Bend. I need the quiet!
I like the colored duct tape, though. 8)

Hey now, my primary canteen back in my Boy Scout days was a bota just like that. It also doubled as an occasional pillow. Was good for the occasional non-oral water distribution as well (squirting campfires and other scouts, etc).

The firestarter is my favorite page. I might just buy everything in the category so I can test it out.

Whatever you do, don't confuse it with the tube of Preparation H in the dark!
Kind of reminds me of the time I loaned some menthol-based pain relief cream to a volleyball teammate before a match. He didn't tell me it was for a groin injury. I'd never seen him jump so high!

Well, no sh*t.
There is no adequate disclaimer we'll ever be able to put on this site if THIS is the standard of intelligence whose actions we're trying to discourage.

World's Best Ever Fire Starter: Magnesium shavings. Used to occasionally get a coffee can of this stuff from a small machine shop near where I grew up in Houston. Our scout troop could start a fire anywhere, anytime, any weather. Old style road flares work pretty good, too. :D

We had a volunteer assistant scoutmaster use magnesium to start a fire on one rainy campout. The rest of the time some of our members relied on "Scout Juice" (aka Coleman Lantern Fuel) to start fires when only wet tinder was available. I was strictly a two-match fire builder myself. Might've taken me a lot longer to find the right kindling, but I was stubborn that way.

A traditionalist; starting a fire by rubbing two dry matches together :)
We usually lit our fires the old fashioned way, but I seem to recall that after one really wet camp, the adults decided that they were going to at least have a fire to make coffee no matter what it took.
