bring a grill and cook out yourself....good stuff.

I've eaten at a small mexican place several times, between study butte and terlingua - can't think of the name.  if it's still there, shouldn't be too hard to find.  good food.

On New Years Eve, I ended up at a place just East of Kiva, Kathys Kosmic Kitchen and Kantina (I may not be exact about the name, but this is pretty close).  Her venison chil  and pico de gallo sausage was beyond compare--I had two of each.
I rolled in about 11 pm, hungry as a horse.  There were a bunch of friendly, neat folks sitting around a campfire; a songwriter was playing her guitar and singing her songs.  It made for a perfect New Years Eve, especially given the way the last 2 days of 2006 played out for me.
The campfire may not be standard, but the food is great.
Ciao.

Los Paisanos, Chili Pepper Cafe, Big Bend Motor Inn Cafe, Longdraw Pizza(Wed-Sun, 5-9PM), High Sierra Bar & Grill, Phat Cafe (call for reservation in advance), and of course....Lajitas. Kathy (mentioned above) is the one who catered David & Sarah's wedding. Highly recommended!
Of course I didn't put days and hours of operation for all because, well.....Terlingua time, you know! wink
There's also Tivo's on 118, but a bit far. Great food..

Big Bend Motor Inn and Los Paisanos are great, in my opinion.

The Chicken Fried Steak at Big Bend Motor Inn is outstanding.

Probably not.  When one is in the Trans-Pecos region and in and near Big Bend, they are in the Promised Land, where everything is good.

Actually, if we are spreading our coverage for the entire area, there is at least one place I'd avoid.  It was in Alpine, Mexican place, NOT LA CASITA, but we thought it was.  It was on one of them side streets like La Casita.  Sorry, don't remember the name.  But look at the ceiling fans when you walk in, if they are covered with about 2" of dust, the floor is dirty, and there are not many people in there - then back out the door and go to La Casita.
