There is a Mexican place in downtown Presidio that has some good food.  I forget the name but it is on the left side of the road after you pass by the highway that heads north (damn, I forget the name of that road too).  Great place to go after driving El Camino del Rio.

I think Picacho is taking about El Patio in Presidio.  Across the border in OJ everyone should try Los Comales - great food and margaritas.

SHANEA might be talking about Alicia's in Alpine, really tiny place, alittle dirty, but the food is probably some of the best in Alpine.  The Eidlewiess Brewery in the Holland Hotel has some good food and beer also.

If you want pizza, eat at Pizza Foundation in Marfa...most people that live in the Alpine/Marfa/Ft.Davis area claim it to be the best food.

Can anybody recommend a good vegetarian place in Study Butte?  Vegan not necessary.  And an iceberg lettuce salad doesn't qualify, at least acc to my wife.

Must also have something to satisfy the carnivore in me... wink

oops -- better clarify this before it gets out of con-trol! :)

Of course, I didn't mean a vegetarian restaurant.  Like that's gonna happen in SB...

I meant some place that could come up with something other than a blank stare & offers of fish or omelettes.  I don't know, maybe something involving pasta, or rice, or um...veggies?

How would I know?  I'm looking forward to as much varied critter as I can consume :D

Marriage, though, apparently involves compromise   wink

Please keep the smaller Mexican places in mind as well, if you like that...
Keep in mind though, when the dish comes with "salad", it will be chopped iceberg, tomatoes and sometimes onion. This is in no way a bad thing, mind you. It is the classic salad that accompanies the plate. The cool crisp iceberg offsets the spicy sauces.  8)

Lajitas has two restaurants :?:  ....Their menu is good for the Ocotillo Restaurant. But please....

" Alfredo syle spinach fettuccini pasta
with fresh cracked black peppercorn and grilled jumbo gulf shrimp garnished with vegetables (can also be made with fresh herb and garlic sauce)
 32.00 "

Or....
" Hard wood grilled hunters buffalo tenderloin
topped with Lajitas chile colorin sauce drizzled with stilton cheese and portabello mushroom  40.00
"

Don't tell me you have to call in to make reservations... :P , at those prices :?:

For $ 40.00 bucks a head, i will cook you the best wildboar you have ever eaten with out leaving behind the beer can chicken...and lets not forget my Frijoles Rancheros

La Kiva and the Starlight are obvious alternatives and much more reasonably priced.

My 2 cents; I'm not familiar with Mr.Smith's eateries in Lajitas, but the Starlight is probably your best bet.  I'm a meat eater, but they have always been accomodating when I've asked for substitutions, etc..

God Bless the V-people;  more for the rest of us :D

True about the prices......merely providing options. How could I forget about La Kiva?  Not sure if they have any veggie options, but it's worth calling them. 432.371.2250 Ya never know what will be going on there either! :D
