I am new to this board & if this has been discussed before I apologize. I was thinking about how neat Big Bend is & when I was there I experienced another dimension that I hadn't read about befor my visit (& I did a lot of research before I visited the park). This added dimension is that as I was hikin along the various trails the fragrance of the wildflowers filled the air everywhere I hiked. I was there in April, 2005. Now this was a very good year for wildflower blooms. I also understand that after a rain (it did not rain on me while I was there) the fragrance of the creosote bush fills the air.
Any comments or additions will be greatly appreciated.

I'm still waiting (like probably the rest of us) for Creosote air freshener, scented candles, or the like.......

Every time I go, as i step out at Panther Junction it's the first thing I do. Take a deep lungful in, and it's like i'm home all over again. It's absolutely magic.

It's like...the smell of adventure.

Michael:  this year also promises to be a good one...we had a moderately wet fall, and now a fairly harsh winter (the worst I've seen in the last 5 yrs I've been living in west Tx), and both of those are good conditions for germination of wildflowers and crowding out competing species.  I have a trip planned for mid-April, hoping to see a good display of those thigh-high Big Bend bluebonnets.

one of the highlights of our Mesa Anguila trip was hiking through a sea of small yellow flowers that released a wonderfully fragrant odor as we (unavoidably) stepped on them.  It was great...
