Anyone been here?
I live just south of Cow Head Ranch. The owners, Chris and Rita Calvin, are GREAT folk and full of great stories. They have a few SMALL cabins clustered around a campfire area, shade and various old time amenities. They have a couple of horse corrals and an assortment of horses, chickens, goats, dogs and cats. It's located in the Big Bend Valley (just west of Ninepoint Mesa) so the sunsets are spectacular but hiking is boring.
It ain't a Holiday Inn (but what self respecting Bender wants a cookie cutter motel). The biggest drawback is plumbing (or lack thereof). The guests share an outhouse. I'm not sure if there is a place to shower (other than a hose by the water tank).
I've never stayed there, but I'm sure it would be a memorable (probably in a good way  ) experience.
