Six of us are leaving for Big Bend Wednesday morning on our annual February expedition via I-10, Ft Stockton and Alpine.  We need a good lunch stop in Ft Stockton or Alpine other than Sarah's.  Does anyone have any recommendations?

Here's a list of eateries in Alpine.

http://www.alpinetexas.com/restaurants.html

There are a couple of sit down places in Fort Stockton but I can't recommend them if for no other reason service is real slow in my experience.  I tend to grab a burger at the "new" Sonic in FS and get back on the road to BiBe.  It's pretty good grease, although I prefer Whataburger, and is fast.

When you turn south in Alpine toward the bend, there is a hard left, hard right dogleg in the road.  At the hard left there is a taco shack to the right on the south side of the road.  Tacos are good, but if you have family that prefer burgers and fries, then you're good there too.  Bien comida!

Boojum1 is talking about Alicias.  This place used to be breakfast and lunch only, but they have recently opened up for all day buisness.

Alicias?  Hey whatever, the homemade style french fries were great, and the servings large.

Thanks a lot everyone for your advice.  We stopped at La Casita on the way down Wednesday and were well satisfied.  Stopped at PJ Friday and enjoyed meeting the Muse.
