Hello Daryl. Being that you live  in Terlingua: Do you know the lady that is selling this Extraordinarily Expensive House. Wonder if you know why , she wants to get rid of it. :?:

How about this one for only $465,000?  If the link doesn't work, try searching for MLS ID#: 72430 in Terlingua (zip=79852).

$ 465,000.00  :!:  :!: ......I have a chunk of land, right across the river from the Golf course, with beautiful landscape some waterfalls like you never have seen before, lots and lots of Piños and Cedars at river level for half of that: Sight Unseen  :!:  :!: .

That guy, in Lajitas, sure did take alot of folks for a ride , eh :?:  . Now, I wonder what the folks at Terlingua think of him and those folks who settle there. cry

Hey, I'll take it! Donations for that purpose are now being generously accepted.  :D

It is a nice looking home. Either it has been extraordinarily well maintained or the 1982 build date is incorrect. 82 seems a little early for that kind of home out there.

I contacted Reggie Brown this summer about his very house, by email and by phone, but I guess he wasn't motivated because he never emailed or called me back.

Why are they selling?  Get out before the entire place, Lajitas, goes bellyup.  Wouldn't want to be holding onto a house/property when they turn off the water pumps and the golf course returns to it's natural state.  You can only bleed red ink for so long before you have to cut your losses.   Even deep pockets like Steve Smith's can only go so far.  In case you didn't know, Steve Smith made his fortune on Excel Communications.  Some of ya'll might have even had the pleasure of attending one of the "distributor" meetings on this - phone cards - kinda a pyrimid or ponzi scheme.

Agree...

When we went through Lajitas back in June (on our way to Presidio), there was not much going on.   At some point, a few dollars need to drop out the bottom at the end of the day...

Now that is something i did not want to read. When that happens those $ 325,000 -$ 465,000 Pink Elephants ar going to burst like a bubble gum.

I have never seen a modern day Ghost Town, we could actually see one in the making. Imagine all the free rooms in 2-3 years ?

I avoid Lajitas like the plaque.  I find the whole idea of recreating Palm Springs in West Texas repulsive.  IMHO Steve Smith can't bail out soon enough.  We need high society millionaires wrecking our desert paradise like we need more dog cholla clinging to our a$$es.

Know the home well.  The 1982 built date is correct.  It was built by and for Walter Mischer, the original redeveloper of Lajitas.

When Mr Mischer built a new two story overlooking the golf course in the late 80's, he sold it to his land and home real estate sales person.  He was a close friend of mine and had completely updated it shortly b4 he died a couple of years ago.

It is one of the few places in the Bend that overlooks the Rio.

If in Sante Fe, Austin, Dallas, Lukenbach, etc it would be 1 mil plus.

It is priced as really good value compared to other upscale homes in the Bend.  Even taking anything else in Lajitas out of contention.
