Man, that's fantastic. I love that shot back towards the Chisos. We tried to climb El Pico, many moons ago, camped at the Puerto Rico Mine. As I recall, from Boquillas we went through a small village, which I think was Las Norias, small ranches, they had hand dug wells, a few horses. From the top the view of Boquillas Canyon was breathtaking. Man, you've seen some country few others have.

 I totally agree with you Bill H....that shot towards Chisos Mountains....is Breathless.
 I envy you, because you have gone to a place, very few people have gone: Mineral El Puerto Rico,hope you can share your experience with us.

Lynn:  We could talk about guided trips to the Boquillas Valley,sometime in the future , but right now .Our club´s first priority is to share our experiences with you, to open up a channel between us and the people of Big Bend,to plan a meeting,open up the La Linda Bridge...you name it. Start off with the right foot.

Muse: GOing with our sons & daughters..was the icing on the cake. That father-sibling bonding was the most beatifull experience there is. Wish You were there with your sons.

Back when the border was open, we took the rowboats across. We went to the Bar there (with teh Raven mural) and asked who could drive us up in the mountains. We were told Saul Falcon had a truck. He showed up and for fifty bucks drove up to the mine. The road was very bad. He drove all the wasy to the mine though. There were old abandoned adobe structures, with sotol and cane roofs. Old iron ore carts lay around with spools of Cable. You could see old mine shafts also. We hiked towards the North and made our way up towards El Pico. There was no trail, although I've been told there is a trail to the South, coming up directly from the old buildings. We ran out of trail. From where we were perched we could see an old road heading in the direction of the River. It took us most of a day, to hike back to Boquillas. This road forked off of the 4wd drive road and was a much straighter shot. The road we'd driven in on swang way to the south before climbing towards the del carmens. We wound up on the hills overlooking Buquillas, with more old mine ruins. We eventually found a trail, which wound down to teh bottom, and a dirt road leading straight back to Boquillas. It was quite an adventure. My friends and I would be interested in getting back some time. It's great to read your adventures.
