National parks face many challenges, including an annual operating shortfall in excess of $800 million and a multibillion-dollar backlog of maintenance and preservation needs.
Big Bend also suffers from chronic air pollution. Development threatens Fort Davis National Historic Site and Big Thicket National Preserve.
Taking care of our national parks should be a national priority, and together we can restore the faded glory of our beloved national treasures.
