It's not snowing in CC, but the temp is 40 and sinking, light rain, wind gusting to 40mph.  No outside pics today;  decided to go "surrealistic".

Went over to a friends house this afternoon and helped cover up the tomatoe plants in case it freezes tonight...  Here it is Good Saturday, and it's cold and snowing.  Driving around town, expected to see Christmas lights up.  Seems like it ought to be hunting season too.

A White Easter. Go Figure!! If you have any good pictures of snow in your neighborhood, send us an email with your attached photo as a JPG to weather@ktre.com. For a look at some pictures from earlier today, check out the Weather Blog.

This snow event will go down in the record books as the latest snowfall to fall across East Texas for as long as the records have been kept. This is the first time that snow has fallen in East and Southeast Texas in April.

It is hard to believe that we not only saw widespread snow accumulations, but rather, it occurred in the late spring months when our normal daytime high for today is 75 degrees. It is amazing how weather can change so quickly in just a matter of hours.

Look for a few more light snow-showers to continue in the overnight hours before all the precipitation comes to an end by mid-day on Easter Sunday.

Some friends of mine went canoeing this weekend, either the Angelina or  the Neches rivers, not sure which, looks like the Nasty Neches to me.  Big difference on getting in and getting out...

Another pic of canoeing the nasty Neches river...  Put in Neches at Hwy 21 and got out at Hwy 7.  It's a nice stretch of river when the water is up and it's not hot and humid out.  Definately NOT a river to do in the summer as the msquotoes will carry you away.  Lots of good camping spots either on the banks or sandbars.  I did this stretch of the many years ago at flood stage on Memorial Day weekend.  The bugs were incredible.  http://tinyurl.com/225ar6

I also shot some videos yesterday of the snow falling...

The video of the snow was nice.  It has been quite a year for weather.  Hope this is not an indication of what our hurricane season will be like this year!

Now that's an interesting scary thought. :notworthy:

We were talking last night about how it would be to have a snow shower in July out this way.  Would make a nice break from the steaming weather.

Now, I could sure go for that in the summer down here!  I know I have been complaining about the cold on Easter...but come July and August...I will be crying for cold weather!

Current Conditions as of Good Saturday that is...  Heck didn't freeze over, but it did snow on Good Saturday.  Incredible, still the talk of the town.  Musta had something to do with the space shuttle Columbia making an unexpected landing in the area... cry
