Polls: People staying home in droves this summer

Quote
This situation is really hitting tourism hard in difficult-to-reach places such as Marfa in West Texas. I was talking to some friends today who characterized Marfa as dead. It just takes too much gas to get there. Sad stuff.

Big Bertha...

At least that projected track keeps it away from the Gulf and all the rigs and refineries there.

It will be interesting to see what long term effects the announcement of T Boone Pickens has on the oil industry. Probably not much initially, but if he actually starts pulling off his plan, I think you will see some impact.

I think that T Boone is probably on to something and has the money to push it a while.  I agree with his statement "a fool with a plan is better than a genius without one"

Iran has been accused of doctoring an image from its missile tests

But a similar image, issued by the Associated Press, shows one of the missiles still in its launcher after apparently failing to fire.

The BBC News website's picture editor, Phil Coomes, said: "Having examined the photograph from AFP, it can be seen that parts have been edited, with smoke trails and parts of the foreground being cloned.

"When viewed alongside the version filed by AP, it would seem than an attempt has been made to cover up one of the missile launchers which may have misfired."

Other commanders have threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz, through which a large part of the world's oil flows, and to target the US and its allies around the world if Iran comes under attack.

Piedras Negras gas prices:

Premium:  $ 3.18/Gal.

Unleaded: $ 2.77/Gal.

Diesel:     $ 2.16/Gal.

What do you worry about?...7-8 hours means nothing compared to a rig of gas for your neighborhood. C'mon over.

No wonder i see more and more gas stations turn to ghost towns with tumbleweeds in Eagle Pass. I have no idea how they are fairing in  Del Rio, on the way to BIBE. eusa_think

if people would stop living beyond their means and not run up their personal debt, they won't have to worry so much.....there, I've said it.

Just completed a 4800 mile road trip from SA to Mt. Rushmore, over to Yellowstone, down to Arches, Monument Valley, Phoenix, and then through west Texas via Alpine.  The Most for Regular (85 octane): $4.55 in Blanding, UT; the least: $3.85 in Tuscon, AZ.  Although, we planned to go all the way to Glacier NP, we had to cut it short due to the gas prices.  We spent about $1000 in gas on the trip, as expected.

Gas prices may be high, but if you need to rent a bigger vehicle, it is a great time to rent!
