Yes, it is aproximately 7 hours drive down to Piedras Negras, then you cross over hop to HWY 57, then just follow the signs to Cuatrocienegas...or just put in your GPS or Geeogle Earth the coordinates that BBH got for us ,on his link and just cruise down here. Much simpler.

Sounds like a road trip...then how far down from Piedras negras and are there any places to stay? I don't so much mind the heat in the day but need bed and AC at night!

great pictures  eusa_clap

everyone really should make an effort to get down there, development is threatening the pozas and they won't be around forever. it's an easy drive over good roads, just takes 3 or 4 hours of driving

Hey Viper, 2 things:

1.- Why don't you tell the folks here, how to get there and where did you stay over. If memory favors me, you hunkered down in a nice shack, correct?.

2.- Why don't you post us once more the link to your pictures. I am pretty sure i have not seen so many pictures of Cuatrocienegas, like yours.

we stayed at a hostel-type hotel just north of CC. it's along the river bed, where the river used to flow. there is the large main house with 2 large bedrooms and a huge upstairs loft, and 2 other houses on the grounds. meals can be cooked by the owner, and it is well worth it  eusa_drool

if la maquina is unavailable (you have to arrange rooms ahead of time, the owners live in Monclova), there are at least 2 more hotels in town, though i doubt there are more than that. the main hotel downtown looked nice.

Driving to CC was really straightforward. We took 35 south from San Antonio to Hwy 57. 57 took us Piedras Negras. In town, Hwy 57 turns to MX 57. there is a toll past the customs checkpoint, but it's only a few bucks and the road is really good. You follow MX 57 to Monclova and take MX 30 west straight to CC. Total driving time is right around 4 hours.

If you feel nervous driving (which you shouldn't, it was a breeze!), buses leave from Piedras Negras and Del Rio all the time and tickets are cheap (~$20)

Ok,

I am free the weekend on Nov 15th.  Anyone up for a road trip?  I am planning on driving my 77ford pickup.  I am trying to get a buddy to go with me.  May just be me and the camera.
