He also plans to create a rooftop beer garden overlooking downtown Alpine and the mountains beyond."

I guess that means the end of the Crow's Nest. Rats.

not necessarily.....if all goes as planned, this will be a precedence.  I have pretty intimate knowledge of this affair...I'll post more  as details come.....stay tuned...the Holland is going to be the place to be before it's over.

Do they still have those rooms outside around the alley? My son and I stayed there a couple of years ago and he got a room in the main bldg but i ended up in one of those large rooms. It had a giant hot tub right in the main room where you could watch tv while boiling away your road stiffness...which was kind of weird but cool since we'd driven so far....but the outside 'garden' area hadn't been fixed up yet. It was nice inside....turned out one of our old friends was staying right next door and we hadn't seen them in over ten years...you never know...who you're going to run into down there. Alpine has changed so much...believe it or not...much hipper now than back in the 70's when the Crystal bar had awful racial signs out front...The Holland was nice....Bob Bell...another old friend was wandering around and he showed us his small studio there.....same bar 'fixtures' still holding down their barstools down the street (just different bar). Looks like someone just picked them up and moved them from CCountry down to Railroad blues and not a drop of beer slipped out of their mugs! Some things are the same. Beer must be good preservative too.

Stayed at the Holland on the 18th. Outlaw brew was fantastic as well as room 214. The Edeilweiss restaurant served up a scrumptious Jaeger Schnitzel! Definately worthy of the stop!
