Long story short, Tess & I will be descending from the Mesa de Anguila into Lajitas late in the afternoon on Saturday, December 29, give or take a day, after about 2 weeks in the backcountry.

We have a reservation for that evening at BBMI in Study Butte, but will need some way to get there.

I don't think scheduling anything with a commercial service will work, since...

1) it's Saturday
2) we might arrive a day earlier or later than "scheduled"

Hitching a ride would be fine, except...

1) it's Saturday & might be getting dark as we get into Lajitas
2) if we don't luck out into a ride there's no way we can walk all the way to Study Butte on the road at night after hiking 8+ miles on the mesa.  Well, we could, but really... Willy Nilly

So, does anybody live nearby that could be on-call & pick us up in Lajitas & drive us to Study Butte?  We would call you from Lajitas when we got there.  Perfectly willing to pay a reasonable car shuttle fee.  Perfectly willing to wait in Lajitas several hours if need be to keep it convenient for you...

Let me know if you're interested,

John & Tess

You may try giving the staff at Barton Warnock a call. They're open until 4:30, and depending on when you arrive, that might work out for you getting a ride into town. I'm not speaking for them, but it's a thought.... cool

Yep -- you're right; being a Saturday shouldn't be an issue.  I guess my concern is scheduling a pickup for a certain day that actually ends up being a different day with no means of contacting the shuttle service to revise things.

Soooooo...

still interested in setting up an on-call version with anybody who might be able to help...

Have set up something with Laird @ Barton Warnock.

Thanks for the idea Muse...

Awesome! Laird is my former co-worker at BBNHA and a great person as well. He is also a fine birder, musician, and of course a member of many great collaborations, such as the Pinche Gringos! I was so glad to hear that he got the job at Warnock. Perfect for him and a much better drive.... cool
