Call me a wimp but I like to have somewhere to "beat the heat" when in west TX.    Glad to hear that there might be shade ramadas out there!

I spend whatever time I feel like in hiking, climbing, picture taking, etc. but I also relish the quiet and lack of electronic contact by sometimes just sitting around and reading a good book. Since BBRSP is new to me, I suspect I'll spend more time exploring this trip, as opposed to BB where I've been there so many times I often just laze around and take it easy. Both ways have advantages.

I'm with you. I would turn into a crispy French fry with my delicate skin.  But this time of year we usually don't even bother to put up a tarp for shade when truck camping.  Just park the vehicle pointed pretty much north/south and you'll be able to have shade no problemo.

Yeah, I have to protect my delicate skin.   

My problem is I'll be out there the first week of April so the days will be longer and the sun will be a little more intense than it is now.

Bill, or anyone else,

If want to PM me with your e-mail I could send you some of the stuff I've marked up on Mapsource.  I wouldn't want to rely on any of my waypoints or routes, but it may work as general reference for you.

I took the El Solatario Newspaper map and attempted to laydown waypoints of some of the campsites and other locations on Mapsource.  I also waypointed mountain tops, springs, and other formations from the Mapsource topos.  Its a work in process, but it might help you. 

Some of the waypoints are from ShaneA's post on the Rancherias Loop hike he did.

The data seems to most usefull when you export it to Google Earth.  You can see all the roads and trails.  With GE the springs are very apparent.
