You can have fires when paddling Boquillas if you have a firepan.

What is it about this river? You can have a fire if you have a river permit; you can cross into Mexico and back if you have a river permit.

Nobody else can do these things.

There's a logic disconnect somewhere in all this.

eusa_shhh Now you've gone and done it.  The guvmint spies reading the board will report back and they'll change the river regs so you can't do anything.

No, I WANT to rock the boat. This is a stupid policy. I've previously stated in another thread that I want to be able to cross the border like rafters do or I want them to have to live by the same restrictions we do.

The willingness to accept what comes your way, not protest, and hope it won't get worse is exactly why we are losing our civil freedoms.

Also, as I said before the reason the river is unaffected is because the powers that be are mor concerned about business pressures than a bunch of individual tourists.

It will be interesting to see what effect the new passport requirement will have on running the river. Already a political backlash is developing with the counties and businesses protesting.

I guess what is curious is that you are protesting a loophole to the very policy you object to, assuming I read you correctly.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of rocking the boat.  That's why I'm going to vote to turn out the heavy handed indiots currently running the country.  Cooperation with our neighbors to the south is where its at.  Shutting down crossings and building walls sounds a bit communist/soviet to me.  But in the mean time, let the paddlers enjoy their little loophole.

I'll take what I can get and long ago quit thinking government regulations are necessarily sensible and consistent.  Complain too much and things will probably get worse not better.

So, Homero, how long did it take you to cross over the bridge yesterday?
