I am wondering if the RV sites at Dog Canyon are large enough to handle my travel trailer at 24 feet over all length.  Since I live in it full time, it would be nice to just pull it in and set up.  Otherwise I will set it at a campground somewhere and take the truck with camper shell in and "rough it".  The trailer is set up for no hookups for a week or more and off road travel so getting there is not a problem.  All I am needing is first hand information about the chance of it fitting into a legal site.  Thank you, Barney

Hi Al! There is a camp ground in the northern part of GUMO called Dog Canyon...hence this post is in the GUMO forum.

I don't have an answer since the last time I was in the GUMO Dog Canyon camp ground was probably 15 years ago. Someone will chime in with an answer I bet.

Hey Bill, I know.  Shane had two posts where he confused the two Dog Canyons.  I was trying to straighten the boy out.  He apparently elected to delete his posts rather than respond to mine.  It makes it appear as though I am the confused one!  I've suffered worse for sure.  Not to worry.

Shane never goes far from the board...unless it's with R2D2 to go camp somewhere!

OFM, sorry for the hijack.  If they have RV spots there's a good chance you can make it. But I would call the ranger station before you go and see what the restrictions are.

Hi OFM!
You'll probably have to call them.
Here's the web page but it doesn't mention length:

You won't have any trouble getting the 24 foot RV to the Dog Canyon campground, but as I recall, there were no "RV" type sites. You can probably park in the lot next to the tent sites, but a call a head would be worth the trouble since it's 70 miles to Dog Canyon from Carlsbad.  It's really out there so bring everything you need.

I took my self contained pop-up last year.
There are RV sites but no hook-ups of any kind.
Your 24' should fit.
