I know that Caprock Canyons isn't really in the BB area, but I just returned from a ride on the trailway that is part of the park, and for the bikers in the group this is one ride that should not be missed.  Mile after mile of beautiful landscape, lots of wildlife (saw on flock of turkey with more than 100 birds) and NO PEOPLE.  Caprock is a good place to check out of you're not up for the Bend.

Yep...No people, not your typical state park in that regard.  Nice place.  Got any photos?

It is a great place.

If you are interested...the book called Caprock Canyonlands by Dan Flores is quite interesting.

I backpacked around in Caprock in 2000.  The scenery was outstanding and we saw almost no people.  We made a day trip to Palo Duro and it was much more crowded.  I've got a return trip planned in a few months.  Can't wait!

If you bike the trailway, investing in some "slime" for your tires is a good idea. My last bike trip there netted hundreds of goatheads in the tires. Fortunately, no flats.

I love Caprock Canyon.
Last year in late April I was hoping to take a trip  for a bit of hiking at Big Bend.
The weather at BIBE turned sour so I headed up to Caprock Canyon.

It was a great time with fantastic scenery and very few people. There is a trip report and pictures at the following link:
