Border Fence

Do any of you guys know if the proposed border fence would cut through the park or on the river?

Border fence current plans will not place it near the National or State parks.  However, the National Guard is doing a lot of work on the River Road in the National Park - I guess to make it easier for NPS and DHS/CBP to patrol.  There are stories and links all over this website regarding the border fence, environmental impact, protests in Marfa, etc.  Type in fence into the search terms and see what you get.  Start here for the lead thread.

The Border Wall/Fence...don't think of it as fencing anyone out, think of it as fencing us in...but then we've already been cowed by prosecution threats if we cross the border, so at least one group is intimidated and they did that without building anything. The wall is there to insure nobody on the north side gets a set of cojones and thinks they can just go back and forth across the line at will.

What no one in either government or the rabid advocates of the barrier can explain is what they will do next when the wall demonstrably becomes a failure (it already is, but since it's not continuous that's the current excuse).

Are you suggesting that the US Government is setting up "containment/internment" camps for us?  Perhaps "reeducation camps" is more politically correct...    I suppose I will be one of the first pupils.

The first time a bus load of illegal immigrants crosses through the Boundary Waters or somewhere else on the US/Canadian border, it will become readily apparent of it's failure.  Or, worse yet, the first time the Mujahideen cross over from there and do some collateral damage, well...

Lest there be any confusion on the matter...I DON'T do politically correct, ever. That usually offends those who are with their easily bruised feelings.

‘Virtual’ fence foreseen

ALPINE – Concealed sensors, hidden cameras and drone surveillance planes packaged together and known as “virtual fences” are likely to be the first phase of increased border monitoring inside Big Bend National Park, Park Superintendent Bill Wellman said last week.

The Terrell County News Leader reported earlier this year that new bulldozed roads leading to the river have been spotted near Dryden on the Mexican side, suggesting that the cartels may be developing infrastructure in the Big Bend region.

Wellman thinks the activity is headed our way.
