And on a sad note, TopoZone is dead.  Taken over by Trails.com on a fee subscription basis.  They'll give you a 14-day free trial, but apparently no more free topos.  I wonder how many links to maps I've posted on BBC using topozone.

I used to use Topozone a lot for providing links to locations, or to look up lat/lon for a specific spot.  MapTech.com is the best free alternative for that feature I've found so far.  An example:

Love that website. I think I've downloaded the whole state from there. Beautiful thing about their stuff is that it is all georeferenced. I downloaded Global Mapper from a link on the Corps of Engineer site, and the topo maps here will load into that and allow you to layer the DEMs and your GPS track all together. The free version just won't let you save the data, but you can print from it.
