hi! sorry if i'm doing this wrong.. i'm new to this. anyway. i'm doing a major science project on big bend. can anyone tell me what plate it sits on. like you know plate tectonics? which plate of the earth does big bend sit on. i can't find it anywhere!

Did you try Google?  I found this site pretty quickly which might give you some answers:

Double check but I believe we are on the North American Plate.

If it's not the North American Plate you'll be able to fool me twice since it extends well down into Mexico.  Easily googled by searching plate tectonics.

Check out 'Basin and Range' and 'Assembling California' by John McFee for the big picture. Both excellent geology and great reading for non geologists. BBNP is on the North American Plate, which has been extended to the west by the "docking" of several small continents and island arcs carried north by the Pacific plate. The separation is now at the San Andreas Fault. Subsequent oceanic flooding and drying (at least 7 times), stretching and recent vulcanism all combine to create the geologic wonder of the Big Bend.   spc
