I went in the field behind my house today and some new flowers were blooming.  The early bloomers have stopped and now the late bloomers are blooming.

You guys have posted some great pictures!   This is a cactus flower I photographed on a path at Ft Davis St Park a few weeks ago.

Taken today in Central Texas growing along a road in an alkaline looking soil.  Very pretty.

Looks like you found the larger version of the Meadow Pink I found last week.  Very pretty. 

I found this White Gaura on my way to work and stopped to take a picture but my camera fogged up (I had it in my pack with my cold water).  I went back in after work and tried again, but it was closed!


Finally I made a third try and it was open again:


I found the White-Topped Sedge growing when I looked around a bit.  It's not a really attractive flower, but the long bracts make it interesting:

Can anybody help me ID this cactus? I purchased it years ago at a Cacti show in Fort Worth and I have managed to kill it after 5 years
of flowering in a pot in my yard. I want to try and get another one but I'm not sure what it is. I plan on taking the picture with me to the next show
but I thought I would share it here as well. The cactus was about the size of a small cantaloupe and as you can see had some wonderful
flowers with very feather like petals. The flowers were white but the sun would cause rose-colored highlights to appear.

FM, that is a fairly common cactus but I don't know the name.

Just got back from 3 days in Pennsylvania and man, the weather is nice there.  Besides more than 2 dozen waterfalls, I saw a few beautiful wildflowers growing by the trail.
