Beautiful.  Thanks, Randall. Spent a few days in Maryland last week but was in town the whole time. I took my camera to take some flower shots, but came back short.

Still on the lookout though!

A couple of shots from the yard.  A Turk's turban? and a Lantana (It's easier to take leaf pictures than flower pics!).

Can anybody help me ID this cactus? I purchased it years ago at a Cacti show in Fort Worth and I have managed to kill it after 5 years
of flowering in a pot in my yard. I want to try and get another one but I'm not sure what it is. I plan on taking the picture with me to the next show
but I thought I would share it here as well. The cactus was about the size of a small cantaloupe and as you can see had some wonderful
flowers with very feather like petals. The flowers were white but the sun would cause rose-colored highlights to appear.
In the words and boring monotone of Ben Stein "Anybody?....Anybody?"

"Oh great one who farts".....looks like some kind of horse crippler to me. I'm prolly wrong, though. Hey, where's all the scientist's on the board when ya need em? icon_wink

Horse Crippler is an excellent guess:

Here are some mediocre flower shots...

This one was taken with an old Sigma M42 mount 135mm lens with this bizaro faux macro capability

and these with a somewhat newer no-name 35-70 "CPC Phase 2" (a now defunct Pentax subsidiary - i think)

I was in Houston today on a project and had some spare time before my flight home so I went to San Jacinto State Park.  Here's a couple of flower shots.  There's more on the park under Other Stuff.

Here are some flowers from last weekend in BIBE

Plains Blackfoot

Threadleaf Groundsel

Acacia

Hartweg's Evening Primrose

This one looked similar to a wild onion or false garlic, but I couldn't find it in my Northern Chihuahuan desert wildflower book

Scarlet Bouvardia

This one looks like a dragon with it's mouth open and forked tongue sticking out.  It even has an eye.
Mountain Sage

Snapdragon Maurandya

Ceniza

Big Bend Silverleaf

White-Eye Phlox

Desert Verbena

Simply outstanding!  Who would have thought there are so many beautiful flowers in the middle of the desert.

Thanks,

Those are very vivid!  I like the zooming in effect.
