6" seems a tad light weight to me. I'd think a foot or more to be better. If you gotta go and don't have a shovel, just find a big 50 pound rock. Drop your load in a low spot 100 yards from camp and drop the rock on top.
Perfect? no, but better than a measly 6" hole. I got big old greeners longer than 6".
