Shop around for SD/SDHC cards and you can get well under $50 for 8GB. Meritline.com has them starting at $28, shipped. SuperMediaStore.com has some in the same price range or better. There may be cheaper vendors out there, but those two are consistenly the cheapest I've seen. I've ordered from both in the past.

Richard - any problems with those generic SD cards?  I've only purchased Kingston or Sandisk cards to date.  Most likely, they're all made at the same plant in China... :)

Nope, no problems other than the self-induced camera malfunction when I overused the Microsoft Image Resizer on a bunch of files on the card. I can't remember what brand my 4GB SDHC card is, but a couple of my MicroSD cards are Kingston.

Good point, Al... I usually buy the Ultra II or Extreme SD cards from Kingston, Sandisk or PNY.  Right now, I've got a Sandisk 4gb Ultra II in the G9.

Looks like Class 6 is the fastest speed to get...

They definitely do allow the camera to finish the write faster when taking a number of shots in sequence.
