I have been over that middle pass and was solo, so I did not attempt the peak, looked kind of tricky.  But I did notice that there was a cairn on the very tip top.

You were wise not to try it solo. Several years ago a park resident was exploring Mouse Canyon, which is where the map shows Panther Spring to be and is one approach to Wright Peak. He slipped on some loose rock and fell down the slope and nearly died.

Well, if he'd just read and heeded the danged warnings plastered all over the park he would have known he was far too inexperienced to attempt this sort of things. Best leave such hikes to professionals.
