Here's a couple of frog photos taken this evening. The first guy is real interesting. Here in Central Texas we fairly commonly see the Green Tree frog but not this guy. We're thinking Gray Treefrog, Hyla versicolor, he changes colors. Here he is sitting on the outdoor temperature sensor:

There are a bunch of these guys who like to hang in the pool at night:

We're thinking Rio Grande Leopard Frog, Rana berlandieri.

the first does appear to be a gray treefrog.  i have several in my 55-gallon terrarium.  did you get to hear that pretty little trill they make?

I believe so.  The Parks and Wildlife website has a bunch of recordings of frog sounds which we tried to use to identify da frog in question.  You can click on the ones with recorded sounds and listen:

It is a very important and valuable screening tool.  We would listen and either we had heard it or not . . . although there are variations not in the recordings it really helped narrow the choices.  There are some big differences in calls.

Coincidentally, I took a picture of a Gray Treefrog last Sunday. I've seen more this year than before and it might be related to all the rain we got last year. Their ability to blend in is very cool and they show up in some interesting places. I went to turn on an outside faucet and one was sitting on top of the spigot. I didn't see it until I grabbed something slimy.

Time is running out for desert toads  in more ways than one, according to Rick Lobello.

Interesting.
2 in our group of 4 saw one of those frogs last Thursday night on the road near 9 Points Draw.
They showed me the picture of it but I had not seen it before to identify.
Now I know.

Whoops!  Yes...you are right.  Toads/frogs, turtles/tortoise, dolphin/porpoise, mouse/rat, Pearl Night/Natural Light...they are all the same to me.
