I've not been to Big Bend in July but there are sure some beautiful mornings and evenings this time of year.  I loved these clouds.

Richard -
I just looked at that same pic about 1 minute ago...then came over here.

Good capture.
3 days until departure...really looking forward to this trip.  Promises to be  a good trip, as I am going with a friend from the TPWD that knows a lot about a lot.

Imagine the incredible smell of the desert after that rain.  It looks pretty green there right now, too.

Wonderful, Vincent. Be sure to keep us posted. Of course, you already know that.

I will do.
I'm taking 2 first-timers on this trip...both with extensive outdoors experience but neither in Big Bend.

Looks like we'll do Ernst, Hot Springs, Pine Canyon or Cattail, Grapevine Hills, Terlingua Abaja, South Rim loop... and beer in Terlingua for sure.

I would like to try Maple Canyon if time and energy allows too.

I am also going to try to do the short Maravillas formation hike up at Persimmon Gap as we come in.

We'll see how much of that we'll actually accomplish...but we have good intentions at this point!
We'll have a good photographer with us, so we ought to have some good pics to share.
