Yes, it IS an awesome burden we who live here must bear. As I type this, it is 78 degrees at PJ.  icon_smile

I woke up a week ago in the backcountry of GUMO and it was 55 degrees.  I'm missing the outdoors already.  I hate sitting in the office.  I gotta get out................ ................. eusa_wall

Let's see.... 650 miles each way from my house in OKC to Big Bend...  1300 miles round trip.

My Toyota Matrix gets 40mpg on hwy, so that's $130 round trip at $4 gal... although I'm sure gas in Ft Stockton is bit higher than that already.

In a few years, a Matrix will be a 'big' SUV.  :)

Those pictures with crystal clear views sure look great...  I wish the sky had been that clear back in Feb when I was there.

We paid $4.19 in Ft. Stockton yesterday.

Lessee, $300 for a round trip of around 1000 miles from Austin and gas averaging around $4 a gallon, that's only a little over 13 miles per gallon. Time to leave the truck at home and take a car that gets decent mileage!

Last trip out I took the car for the first time....made a huge difference, although it kept me off the backcountry roads:icon_cry:
