This would make an outstanding addition to Big Bend National Park...  I wonder if there is any movement afoot to purchase this?  Perhaps the deep pockets over at the Friends of Big Bend could be a real pal and scoop this up and donate it?

I did email the NPCA, Sierra Club, Environment Texas, Texas Nature Conservancy, Friends of Big Bend, BBNHA, Pete Gallego, etc. to get the ball rolling.  I would have emailed  the Melon Foundation, but they have a bad taste in their mouth right now regarding donations within Texas.  Plus, all the major news outlets...

I just called Ranch Investments and Associates and the asking price is $29,000,000.00 or $1,160 per acre. 

 i just crunched some numbers here:

  At $29 Million Dollars for 25,000 acres, exactly Shane, is $ 1,160.00 dlls an acre.

   Here a ranch in the Mountain area of Muzquiz,with an established Hacienda dating back to the 1800's remodeld, with a spread of at least 50,000 Hectares, that is 123,553 acres with cattle,airstrip, running water,a 10 000 kva diesel plant and hired hands is going for no more than $ 6,000,000 dollars.

  So this turns to: $ 6 Million Dollars for 50,000 hectares is $120.00 Dlls a Hectare.......$48.57 an Acre.

 No wonder. I get it now, so many folks from thre States are grabbing what they can in the Muzquiz,Mexico area and settling down or continuing with their cattle operations from there..Sheessh!!

 Shane, you definetly need to come on down here, settle down continue with your home based operations, we have Skype in here you hear?, and marry a beautiful señorita from Muzquiz. There's a plenty to go around...believe me man.

Here's a 5 step plan for acquiring said ranch without anywhere near that much money, (although it would take some time):

1.  Start a marketing campaign about this "sure-fire, once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity in the Big Bend area real estate market.

2.  Spread rumors about the demand for a high class resort/housing development in the Big Bend area.

3.  Mention "Golf".

4.  Make sure  several variations on these themes are received by one "S. Smith".

5.  Wait 5 years.

I like the idea of some "deep pocket" just buying it and turning around and donating it free and clear with a little extra pocket change for infrastructure improvements, protection, surveys, archaeological survey, etc.   Trust me, if I had deep pockets that's what I'd do.  I also really good about spending other peoples money...    It would be a lasting legacy to that person.

Good point on the price per acre.  $1160 per acre seems a bit high for that area and for that much acreage.

Muzquiz is a nice area I like it.  Wish I could sign up right now....

However I think the asking price is a little high.  The are asking a 400%-500% over market. There is a whole mountain and inside a NP but still is it worth that much of an upcharge.

Land is worth $250-325 an acre.

I just checked this with a friend, but again none-conclusive: The Maderas El Carmen Project, was acquired by Cemex in 1994, i believe from all the ranches,public lands and holdings they rounded 250,000 hectares (617,764 acres) at a total of $30,000,000.00 dlls. for the whole deal, it comes down to $120.00 hectare  $48.57 dlls. an acre.

 Rosillos Ranch, is definetly out of the ball game. Besides CJacob says so and i believe he is a real estate agent,like Undertaker.

 Folks if interested, better pick up a piece of land in the Mountains near Muzquiz, many times over worth your while for your investments.

I am an agent but spending more time doing development than anything else.  I have my eyes on land in Mexico to retire.  I have had my FM3 for 15 years now and I am ready to go...
