Interesting that when you go to the link to look at the photos there is this lead-in...

'Photographs of Law Enforcement Park Rangers working in Big Bend National Park'

It's a good thing they phrased it that way because they are 'working' doing everything under the sun except actual law enforcement work. There's photos of scenery, canoes, an apparent 'rescue', firefighting, riding horses and flying airplanes, but not a single photo depicting the duties for which they say they are hiring. The only photos they didn't include were handing out junior ranger badges, brochures, and bandaids.

It's enough to make a real cop cry. What is illustrated are those duties ANY park employee could perform; it doesn't take a badge and gun to do any of that.

Oh, wait, I forgot about the photo captioned 'hiking out smugglers'. Despite the employees grinning and the folks supposedly in custody not appearing to be all that 'arrested', there is a BP agent with them, so this must be the token 'law enforcement' picture. There's no photos of the rangers working on their own, dealing with violations under their direct purview, only a blurry photo of them 'assisting' another agency that has the primary jurisdiction in that case. 'Security guard' comes to mind, not police officer.

Maybe the 'law enforcement' part is where they surf the internet looking for photos of violations instead of arresting the illegals any simpleton KNOWS will be found down at the Hot Springs. Since the NPS is a 'full partner with the U.S. Border Patrol working to secure the border and protect the park' it would seem the NPS is not holding up its end of the deal when illegal entry at the Hot Springs is a regular occurrence whenever tourists are around. I guess without the BP present its too tough a job.

Didn't like the title Richard?   : eusa_think   icon_wink

I was just playing off of another post of the same title - seemed appropriate at the time...   rolling

Moderator note: Yes, I appreciated the attempt at humor, but alas, I wasn't in the right mood to truly appreciate the depths of your wit.
