A new literary magazine, La Frontera, will soon bring lovers of the Trans-Pecos the writing, poetry, painting, illustration and observation they enjoyed in the recently discontinued Desert Candle.
The magazine will showcase the talent of writers and artists from Far West Texas in addition to offering regular features on books, ecology, dark skies and the unique people and places of the Big Bend.
Publisher Gil Bartee together with editor Dallas Baxter and graphics designer Wendy Lynn Wright plan to have the first issue on newsstands in December.
“We have a fantastic team in place,” said Bartee. “Our plan with La Frontera is to create a self-sustaining magazine that will bring the work of contributors and the products of our advertisers to a large, wide-ranging readership,” Bartee said.
“We look forward to publishing the work of many writers and artists with whom the public is familiar as well as those whose work and ideas have yet to be heard,” said editor Dallas Baxter. La Frontera welcomes submissions and enquiries at
