The Historic Holland Hotel, Restaurant and Brewery will be patterned after many smaller boutique hotels and inns scattered throughout the United States and Europe which offer a unique blend of personal service and refined conveniences.
Plans for the Holland Hotel include recreating the opulence of the past. ”Trost hotels were touted as a virtual “fairyland” with “exotic Spanish decorations”, “bellhops garbed in Spanish costumes”, “mazes of chrysanthemums, dahlias, and bluebonnets” throughout the lobby.” The Holland Hotel will offer relaxation in the expansive lobby with oversized chairs and sofas that wrap you in cushioned comfort and create a comfortable 'privacy zone' for work or conversation At the Holland you will enjoy gracious hospitality, comfort and old world charm. As a guest at the Historic Holland Hotel you will stroll the same lobbies as legendary guests Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean, Rock Hudson, Tommy Lee Jones, Tom Selleck, Randy Quaid and Daniel Day Lewis.
Plans are to renovate the guest rooms, lease the existing restaurant to a first-class restaurant operation with fine dining in an elegant and relaxed atmosphere. “Having a fine restaurant is one of the best ways to advertise your self as a first-class hotel”, according to Tim Zagat publisher of the Zagat survey. Plans also include a spacious gift shop-gallery to feature; an ice cream bar, fine chocolates, wine tasting and a coffee bar. The existing brewery will be expanded to include Gillary’s Hay Maker Saloon, located in the existing Rio Grande Banquet Room. The Hay Maker Saloon was one of the first taverns in Alpine dating back to the 1800’s and Gillary’s was my first tavern located on the waterfront in Bristol, Rhode Island. If you like your drinks with a view, there is none more panoramic than the planned “Rooftop Patio”; a 6,000 square foot bar and grille that will also include an outdoor movie screen that will managed by the directors of the Marfa Film Festival. As you sip your beverages, you can take in a sweeping vista of Alpine and the Twin Peaks and experience the incredible sunsets that rival those of Key West Florida! Heaters and an outdoor fireplace create a cozy atmosphere when the weather turns chilly! Guests at the Historic Holland Hotel will have full access to the Cut Above Fitness Club located directly across the street from the hotel.
Throughout the Historic Holland Hotel, a keen sense of style and customer pampering will be maintained at a price that won't blow your budget. The hotel rooms and suites will be tasteful in their décor and amenities. It is critical to note the furnishings in each of the guest rooms will be paramount to the overall product concept. A guest is greeted by a coordinated design of warm colors, natural fabrics, thick, fluffy towels and robes, and period décor furniture. While durability and budget are requisite considerations, the uniqueness of each room is essential to establishing the special quality of the Historic Holland Hotel.
Many of the stories this “Crown Jewel” has to offer will be documented. As they say, “If these walls could talk”. Ray Hendryx, the son of the former owner Gene Hendryx has offered his assistance to the historical legacy of the Historic Holland Hotel by providing photos, books and oral history of the hotel. The many “Ghosts Stories” of the Historic Holland Hotel will also be documented. Local artisans are encouraged to contribute to the restoration and renovation of the Historic Holland Hotel.
The Historic Holland Hotel is not just a Hotel. It will be a feeling, a lingering impression of distinction. It is an experience which will remain with our guests – an experience which will cause them to visit again and again.
