On the previous cat story, there was more to it per a river guide I had chatted with… After finding itself cornered, the cat bounded off the woman (thus the scratch she received), landed in a safe area, pooped while everyone was still just standing/looking in shock, and then the cat ran off.
In my cat’s case, had I really been on my game that morning I would’ve had the lens cover off and the camera would’ve been ready to fire. I KNEW something was there, and I was wondering if it was still there as we returned to the spot. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Oh, well… Can’t say I didn’t enjoy seeing it AND hearing that shadowy colored bobcat as it tore off into the reeds! That was a powerful, stealthy, and angry sounding animal for its size. Since mine didn’t scratch me or poop at our presence I can honestly say that I have even more respect for the Cats of Big Bend! I would still feel the same if it scratched me, but had it pooped in our general direction, I might not feel the same way about bobcats anymore. :)
