Name that Literary magazine
Publisher Gil Bartee recently announced the launching of a new literary magazine that focuses on the culture and literature, past and present, of Trans Pecos Texas. However, the title Bartee had chosen “La Frontera” cannot be used due to a conflict with La Frontera Publications, Inc. in Marfa, the parent company of the Big Bend Sentinel and El Internacional..
“We’d like our readers to name the magazine,” Bartee said. “We’re inviting the public to name the publication in a contest that starts today and ends July 31.”
The literary magazine will focus on the Trans-Pecos with writing, poetry, painting, illustration and observation created by the writers and artists of Far West Texas. It will include regular features on books, ecology, dark skies and the unique people and places of the Big Bend.
Contestants may submit any number of suggested titles and should e-mail them to
contest@bigbendmagazine.com or mail them to Dallas Baxter, Editor, P.O. Box 2025, Alpine, 79831. Entries must be printed legibly and include the name, address and phone of the contestant and be e-mailed by midnight July 31 or post marked by July 31, 2008.
The winner receives a $50 gift certificate to the Reata Restaurant in Alpine and a $50 bar tab at the Holland Hotel Micro-Brewery when it opens later this year.
