Gimmick. And a $157 US one at that (at the new lower price). When it breaks (and it will) you will have a very expensive and very heavy water bottle.

Buy a quality dedicated filter instead.

Try this one instead, lighter and cheaper.

'Connect to almost anything, using the universal connectivity system. The Frontier Pro filter will connect directly to any water bottle with a 28mm opening such as a Platypus® or standard spring water bottle'

These things are good examples of overspecialization and everyone trying to put something unique (read 'gimmick' again) in their product, rather than just building a water filter. I would not buy, or even consider a device that is so specialized as to use a threaded connector to the receptacle.

Get a real pump, and do the minimal effort required to force water through it into whatever container you might want to use.

Better yet just use some chlorine dioxide drops and forget the filter, one has to be patient and wait 15 minutes but then we are in the backcountry just enjoying our time.
