Knots !!!

After reading RichardM's topic on How to backpack , i thought it could be interesting to start a new topic on the very useful knots, that  you could share with us.

  So let me get it started with the ones i saw:

The Tautline Hitch:



 It think this is very useful when tying a tarp, clothesline,tie down, you name it.....very good.

The Bowline:

 I know there are many more knots out there, if you know any do share.....

Yup with those three knots you can do just about anything you need while camping.  Although it never hurts to know the sheet bend if you need to join two ropes or the ol' square knot which every one should know unless you prefer a granny knot . . . NOT!

The tautline hitch is a variation on the Prusik knot, which is very useful as a non-mechanical ascender or backup brake on a hauling system.

I am continually amazed at the folks who work for me who can't tie any knot at all except a hatchet knot (takes a hatchet to untie it  )
