Hiking boot help...

I'm in the market for a new pair of hiking boots, more specifically the Asolo FSN 95. I did a search on the board for info pertaining to that particular boot, but could not find the answers to my questions.... Soooo... I turn to you guys. Here's the problem... I wear a size 15, and have a really narrow foot. Buying hiking boots, much less any other type of shoe, is sometimes challenging. I have found that Asolo now offers the FSN 95 in a size 14 (which would work for me because I like my boots just a little snug). However, I was wondering about the width. Does anyone here have a narrow foot also, and own a pair of these? I don't want to order them without trying them on, and I do not have the patience to order them, try them, and send back if necessary. Also, for you San Antonio natives, is there a store in SA (or surrounding area) that sells this brand, so that I may try them on while I am there in a couple of weeks? Thanks as always!

I purchased this boot several years ago after Backpacker Mag gave them an Editor's Choice Award.  At the time I was under the impression that my foot was a half a size smaller than it actually is.  For me that half a size difference was huge in these boots.  I didn't realize this until I was on the trail in the Sierra Nevadas towards the end of the day when my feet had swollen.  I will tell you there is very little give with this boot.  A proper fit is a must and an improper fit (too small) will mangle your feet...at least they did mine.  Based on my experience, I would not do it.

I've had a pair of those for a few weeks now and I like them a lot. No trail use yet but lots of miles around the neighborhood getting them, and me, in shape. I seem to need a size 11 shoe after wearing a 10.5 all of my adult life. I got a size 11 in regular width and they fit very well...maybe a little on the tight side. For example, I removed the insoles and put in my Powerstep insoles and didn't have enough room after doing so. If you like your boots a little on the tight side, these might do for you.

In the miles I've put on them so far, I haven't had a single blister...not even a hot spot. I'm doing 2.5+ miles on my walks and these boots are very comfortable the whole time I'm walking.

In SA, Good Sports and Whole Earth Provision might carry these boots.

stingrey loves his pair...maybe he'll chime in here. We both bought our boots on-line and got lucky with a good fit. If you have narrow feet, you'd be better off finding a place to try them on. Get that phone going!

Hey have you considered custom made boots?  I have not done hiking boots yet but I have done cowboy boats.  I have wide ft that are two different sizes.  I get Lucasse boots speacial ordered and they charge $60 more then the standard cost.  I Believe there are quite few hiking boot companys that will custom make them.

My feet are 9.5-10 eeeee yep 5e.  My best luck has been in the Dunham brand.  A friend with small but very narrow feet also was able to get a good fit in the Dunham brand.  These were purchased at Joe's in washington state though.
