Homerboy,

I have a 15 year high school reunion coming up at Thanksgiving.  So I have no parents or family in Del Rio anymore. I sent an email asking the cordinator of the reunion for hotel information in Acuna.  I was told and I quote "its not very safe over there"  has is gotten that bad in PN and Acuna?  I considered Guerrero far more dangerous, then Coah.  So is it unsafe? should I be worried?

Whats your 2 cents on the issue?

Also when is the Nacho festival in PN?  Sounds like a great time.

With respect to hotels in Acuna, we have stayed several times at the Best Western Villa Real on our trips out to BIBE (Del Rio and Acuna were a good stopping point for us when we lived in Victoria, TX).  We stayed there in 2005 and twice in 2006 (Jun and Sep).   We always enjoyed our stay there and found the hotel and staff very nice.

WOW!!!...No Cjacob, not by a long shot. I could never recommend anybody coming over here to expose themselves and family to trouble with out feeling any guilt.

I will be the first to acknowledge that there is trouble in major cities down south such as Mexico City, Guadalajara and in some instances in Monterrey because there the cartels are battling a tough turf war between them, but from Saltillo and dowards to Piedras Negras and Cd. Acuņa all is very well.

I think i have been the most blunt guy when it comes to things related to drugs, violence and money laundering in this board, if any trouble that it might be going down hard would be in Cd. Juarez and in Tijuana, but not in here.

Enjoy your time when you come down to Del Rio and Acuņa.

Homerboy,

I thought you never ask: It is in Octuber...and i hope to see you down here, in the Nacho capitol of the world.

What weekend is the event.  We will make it down there for the day if not the night.  I thought that North Coah. had not been affected like the major city's.  We where in Guerrero when a gernade attact happened in a bar.

Thank you much for the honest feed back.  I have heard from 2 friends from high school that Acuna was no longer safe.  I was a little shocked.  For a while my dad used to have 100% of his semi's followed due to drugs being placed on his shipments in Acuna.  He worked 10 years in Acuna and never had an issue not even a traffic ticket.

I will book my trip tonight.
