I hope NOAA's got it wrong; New Orleans doesn't need this.

You would think they would have the levees fixed by now, but apparently not.
Quote from:
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/05/22/leaking_levee_in_new_orleans_alarms_experts/
Despite more than $22 million in repairs, a levee that broke with catastrophic effect during Hurricane Katrina is leaking again because of the mushy ground on which New Orleans was built, raising serious questions about the reliability of the city's flood defenses.

That's it - the secret. Throw enough models at it and one is bound to be right...

Ahh, the advantages of living 1000 miles inland and 1200 ft altitude
. I can dodge most tornadoes, but not a big blower like that.

Yep. We used to live in Victoria (30 miles from the Gulf and 95 feet above MSL). Had the plywood stacked in the garage (cut and labelled for the windows), plus a portable electric generator. We moved to Helotes last year. No more plywood. No more generator. No more worrying about the big one. Very nice being 250 miles from the Gulf and at 1100 feet above MSL...
