Thanks bk! Just wanted to be sure.

Al: I looked at the chaps...and while they sure would do the job...all I could think of was...The Village People..."it's fun to stay at the Ba  sin  camp  ground      it's fun to stay at the Ba  sin  camp  ground     everybody sing now!"  eusa_dance eusa_clap

Bill, if you run into the Village People on that hike take lots of pictures!  Otherwise you will be the envy of all you encounter.  Be sure and walk bow legged like a real Texan . . .

Bill, the best dressed hiker on the trail is the most practically dressed.  The standards are very different from elsewhere.

Got to admit every Texan I've seen wearing chaps was bow legged . . .

Yes

Thanks. I always wondered about that. When we made it to the dikes, we didn't venture down into the thicket to see if the springs were there. We could make out water on the ground by looking through the trees, but the views were pretty obscured by the vegetation.

If you're careful about where you step and you don't mind brushing against grass, then you could go in shorts. I did. I just ran into some problems because I was having to negotiate my way through the bush while wrangling a 2 1/2 year old at the same time. That, and also dealing with a highly irritated wife (she doesn't like hiking through stuff like that), which will put any man in a state of unease  icon_biggrin

This hike sounds like a good way to spend part of a day! We're planning a trip after Christmas and while I have a pretty good idea of what we'll be doing, this hike may be added to the list. About how long is the hike mileage and time wise? We usually take our time.

It's probably close to 2 miles one-way. About an hour each way from the road, the walking is easy and slightly uphill for most of the way and it ends with some short, steep ups and downs.

Thanks for the quick reply badknees. Sounds like it would fit right in one of our days. Make it in the afternoon, lingering for the sunset.

Made it to the springs this past may. Found fresh remains of deer near the water. Had the feeling something was watching us. Kinda spooky.

I hope you make it Vince!
I was going to try this hike when I was in BB in September but never got around to it. Maybe next time.
 Take some pics for us!
