The used Marmot Eiger pack I bought 5 weeks ago finally arrived today. Seems well built. I can figure out or guess most things about it. I can clean it up since it's a little dirty.

But....I can't figure out how or where to insert the large, flat, shaped, plastic sheet that came with the pack. The sheet has two thin rows of padding sewn onto one side with velcro at one end like it's to be secured somewhere.

Likewise for the two aluminum stays...don't know where they go. When I saw them in the box I figured that there would be two obvious sleeves inside the pack where these would go. Nope. No sleeves.

So, can anybody shed some light on how I'm supposed to put everything together? This is my first experience with an internal frame pack so I'm kinda lost.
  Thanks!

Okay...figured some of it out...

The aluminum stays go inside the rows of material sewn to the plastic. I assume at this point that the entire plastic sheet + stays then inserts into a large, deep pocket inside the pack, against the back. Guess the aluminum can be bent to fit the wearers back shape.

Let me see what else I can discover.

I hear you Homero! Everyone here is always willing to help. That's why I ask so many questions! I'm always asking...and I always get answers.

As far as the pack goes, I think I have it figured out. I was just confused to see the back panel and the aluminum stays separate from the pack. Now that I have them back where they belong...I think...eveyrthing seems good. At some point this weekend, I'll load up with a couple of gallons of water and try hiking a couple of miles to see how the pack fits and rides on me. That should be the real test. In any case, this pack is probably bigger than I really need...gotta resist the temptation to just throw everything in it because it will get really heavy if I do that. Soooo....careful attention to what goes in for the S Rim trip will be needed.
