This is the "Stud" of the Sony line.  Full frame 24 MP sensor;  but at $3000, it's less than half the Canon Mark IIIDs, the only other one with a 20+ MP sensor.  Now, if I survive Ike, and win the lottery, I may just buy one.

I'm waiting for a $500.00 FF camera...guess I'll be waiting a while.  eusa_think

In the mean time, maybe I can pick up an a300 or a350 cheap from someone who's upgrading!

I'm not sure I want/need a 24mp camera.  I'm pretty happy with the 10-12mp range.  I just want better low-light performance and full-frame.

You're in luck:

Full frame, ISO 6400, affordable (for some, maybe)

You can pick up used Canon 5D's for cheap now. Then there is always the Nikon D700. It's full frame, and is in much smaller body than the D3, also 2,000$ cheaper. Has the same sensor, etc. I actually almost bought one when it was first released...but couldnt justify it's 3K price tag, but instead bought a D300. Although its not full frame, it's high iso performance is excellent. I can get usable results from iso 6400..not as great as the D3/700, but close.
