Any word on the status of the flooded areas? I assume by now the waters have receded? We'll be there in 3 weeks.

TXdave, here's a useful link.  Water level is going down dramatically but is still in flood stage.  I'd bookmark this link.

The water will have drained by then (as long as they don't have any more releases from Mexico), but they're going to have a real mess on their hands.  Could take a while to clean things up.  Keep an eye on the Daily Report and this board, and maybe call the Rangers.

I drove thru from BBR today. The river road is detoured a few miles east of Presidio. It loops up Casa Piedra to the BBR turnoff, then south on Boficillos --all gravel surface, some of it moderately rough. A shorter detour is being created around the damage where flooding undercut 170. East of Fort Leaton the flood line is about eight foot up in the brush along the road. Many places along 170 show high water marks and some damage to the blacktop. I'll post some pics when I get back home.

From Boficillos turnoff to the Sauceda HQ is about 28 miles and it took about 1.5 hrs drive time - avg 20 mph. The loop detour to Presidio is about the same, maybe a little less. I drive slow 'cause I don't like having my dental work shaken loose.

Here are some pics.
