We are stil without power, but we got a generator the other day so we can have some power and I finaly had a chance to get my photos from the camera to the PC to my server.

These are just out and about in my neighborhood. My house had only minor roof damage.

Glad you and yours made out fairly well. Those are some big trees. I know that around here, the trees seemed more to just fall over that snap in half, like they did in Rita. Still and all that was a mean sob that blew through. Ike wreaked havoc across more of the US than any other hurricane, I believe.

jamesb, glad to hear you were spared major damage. Thanks for the insight into the damage suffered by others in your neighborhood.  Some of the trees that fell on other homes appear several decades old.  The rain softens the soil and the wind does the rest.  Seems like a tremendous amount of damage could be avoided if trees were limited to shorter species, but then again the wind itself might do more damage.  May your power be restored quickly.
