In preparation for the Outer Mountain Loop in December, I'm planning a 2 day backpacking trip to the Winding Stair Mountains in SE Oklahoma in late October. I'll be hiking the Horsethief Springs  and Billy Creek trails. Taken together this will be about 20 miles and should give a fair test of my stamina with a 40# pack.

Cool, looking forward to the trip report.  I've been thinking recently about a hike in that general area as well.  In fact, I was camping with some friends up in Oklahoma this past weekend and we discussed that very thing.
