My dog is free to a good home.

It is with great sadness that I must get rid of my dog of 10 years. She was actually my late wife's dog and she can no longer stay in my house.
She weighs about 35-40 lbs. I have had her since she was a puppy. However, she is not good with children and
she bit my 17 month old son today
. Sadly, she is out of here.
SHE IS NOT GOOD WITH CHILDREN OR OTHER ANIMALS
. Shots are up to date, she is fixed, she is house broken and very clean and neat. She doesn't like to get dirty and other than her extreme jealous streak, she is actually very sweet. She would fit perfectly well into a home without pets (cats are OK) or children. All she wants is to be loved, exclusively. I am heart broken about giving her away, but I have no choice after she bit my son.

CG, I'm so sorry. I know you hate to have to get rid of her, but you are right to protect your son. I hope you can find a great home for her.

Al
well, I guess it was "strong nip." He was doing nothing at all but standing in between me and her and minding his own business. She punctured his upper lip from her bottom canines, left two superficial marks in his forehead from her upper canines and he's got a superficial scratch on the bridge of his nose from her withdrawal, I assume. Either way, I can't have a dog thinking she can do that just because she isn't getting enough attention. If I can't find a home for her this week, she's going to have to go to a shelter, preferably one that doesn't euthanize, but those are usually full.
If anyone at all is interested, please PM me and give you details. Ultimately, this dog belongs in a home without children or female dogs. I think older people would benefit from her. She wants to be the only loved creature in the house. She is a very sweet dog to adult humans but is also a good watchdog as she doesn't let unknown people into your yard or home with a proper introduction from you.

I hate to hear this. 10 years is a long time for a dog to be around. Many reasons for why she may have nipped/bitten your baby. Not that any really matter, though. She bit, therefore wshe goes. You can never trust her again with a child. I know your heart is breaking. Hopefully you find her a good home. I don't have a fence plus my two outside cats wouldn't be a welcoming committee by any means so I can't help you there.

David,
I'm really sorry to hear this. It must be heart-breaking for you.
I was out camping over the weekend at an extremely crowded campground and my friend's dog bit a kid. It was the second time she's bitten a child and it was my buddy's last straw with this dog. So, now he's doing the same as you and trying to find someone who will take it. Very sad and really put a damper on the camping trip.
I'll let you know what my friend learns about who might take his dog.

That would be great ay. I hope he finds someone as well. Keep me up to date!
Meanwhile, things don't look good for her. The humane society will take her and try to find a good home, but likely they will not due to her personality problem. In which case they will likely put her down.

Oh I wish my yard was fenced in....I'd take her then, but the road in front of my house is way to busy even though we live so far out in the country...hope you're able to find a home for the precious pooch
