David, does this actually make any difference?  I was thinking about picking one up for my next trip.  They have them for $19.99 at wally world.

yep, used it on my last trip....it's great...plus I like the added benefit of the hum of the fan going...makes me fall asleep  8)

Ok, ya'll are headed down a slippery slope now - fans for tents.  Ah Ha - um-hum, clearing my thoat.  Its starts out with fans for tents, then comfortable air matreeses, then cots, then a larger more deluxe tent, then tables.  Let me save you a lot of money, you are heading to where I'm currently at.  Save yourselves a ton of money and just buy a pop-up camper, then you won't need to worry about a fan for the tent.  You will have AC.  You are headed down the slippery slope of starting to carry two tons of gear with you.  I think it's an aging process.  We "love" camping and the outdoors, but our bodies like "comforts of home" so in order to continue the ability to camp we bring the comforts of home with us.  Plus, if we are going to go and climb Casa Grande in the morning, we need to have a good nights sleep in order to prepare and also to "heal" from the summit we did on Emory Peak earlier in the day.

still, i'm not quite there yet.  i like roughing it, sleeping on the ground in the freezing cold with ice forming inside the roof of my tent.  :shock:

we're actually trying to scale back the amount of gear we're taking this time.  since we're doing the overnight backpack, and we'll have to leave the truck unattended, we don't really want to leave a bunch of stuff in the bed.    so no cots, no giant size tent, no air matresses, no ton of charcoal & grill, gas grill, shade canopy, two coolers, food box, folding table, etc.  :lol:

Sherpa Service - I tell you BIBE needs a sherpa service.  There are probably a lot, ok a few, that would like to have sherpas carry all of their equipment to the rim and setup camp for them, that way they could take a leisurly climb up with just bare essentials.  The BIBE Sherpas will carry your backpacks, water, food, etc.  Setup your tents, cook you dinner/breakfast/etc.  I'll import the Sherpas from Nepal for this and give them work during the downtime of the year over there.  Then, when the Everest expeditions need them, we'll send them back.  Share-A-Sherpa...
Sounds like an idea to me.  Shoot, a little climb like this they could run up it with 80lbs on their back!  I'll start a trend, do this at BIBE, Guadalupe, etc.
