Description: The Lower Shutup drains a large portion of the Solitario in Big Bend Ranch State Park. It is the largest canyon through the Solitario and the most difficult to traverse the full length. If you start from the interior of the Solitario, you can walk 2 or 3 miles before the canyon closes up and the climb becomes technical. The cool weather this November makes this an especially enjoyable walk.
